7th general elections heads to Guangzhou

SNH48 Group announced during the 6th Best50 Request Time Concert on December 21st that the 7th General Elections would take place in August 2020 in the city of Guangzhou (see announcement video at top of page).

This will be the first time in the history of the group that an election will be contested outside of Shanghai. This will also be the first time an election does not take place in the month of July.

It is presently uncertain as to what motivated STAR48 to hold an election in a city where they have historically had very poor attendances in major shows but this may be the result of some government sponsored event taking place in Shanghai next summer. It might also be an attempt by STAR48 to grow its audience South of the country.

Stay tuned for updates.
